It was 50 years ago that we began camp with two weeks of jazz camp.  Since then, with the involvement of outstanding master teachers and the support of dedicated volunteers, our arts education and enrollments have grown well beyond our dreams. We have grown to nine weeks of summer programs with a wide variety of arts-related offerings.  A lot has changed in the last 50 years, but our guiding philosophy has not!  We continue to provide a safe and nurturing place for young artists to excel and become front-row performers in their lives!

Please meet Brittany.  She attended Show Choir camp the past 2 years.  “It was the most rewarding experience of my life.  I love to sing, but I was never good at any type of dancing and I lacked the confidence to perform in the front row until I attended Show Choir Camp.  I am a heavier set girl and I was inspired by our teacher’s talent & determination.  She showed me that size didn’t matter.  During the performance at camp, my mom said I was smiling from ear to ear the whole time.  Shell Lake Arts Center gave me the confidence to become co-captain of my high school Show Choir and to help choreograph songs for our spring and fall concerts.  I was shy and didn’t like to be in charge, but teaching dances to my peers opened me up to meeting new people and made me more comfortable being looked up to as a leader.  Thanks to Shell Lake Arts Center, I will always strive to be a front-row performer no matter what my size!”

Donate today to the 50th Year Scholarship Fund.  We have thrived for 50 years for two simple reasons – the positive impact of our work and you!  Oh yes, it’s you!  YOU make it possible for kids to move from the back row into the front row.  YOU make it possible for kids to smile from ear to ear.  YOU help develop our future leaders like Brittany.

Thank you for believing in us for 50 years,

Tara Burns

Executive Director

P.S. Many youths are unable to attend camp without

scholarship support.  A gift of $600 will sponsor one

student for the week and make a young artist very happy!
